Grants to grow events and festivals in the Charlotte Coastal Region
The CCRTA is proud to support local events and festivals financially through its Events and Festivals Grant program. This program is funded entirely by a voluntary Destination Marketing levy. Visitors to our region pay an extra 2% on each room night they spend in participating accommodation businesses. The funds are submitted directly to the CCRTA and are used for marketing and product development, as well as to support this grant program. You can learn more about the Destination Marketing Fund by contacting the CCRTA at [email protected]
In 2017, the fund provided over $40,000 in support to festivals and events throughout the region, helping them increase their ability to attract visitors and grow their events. The funds must be used for direct marketing, advertising, and promotion costs only.
How to apply for a CCRTA Festival and Events Grant
The CCRTA accepts applications twice annually, on November 15 and April 15. If you are requesting $1000 in support or more, you must apply by the November 15 deadline.
Full details on eligibility and how to apply can be found in the Application Guidelines document.
If you are eligible and wish you apply, you must complete the Application form and submit it no later than 5 PM on the deadline day.
What types of events and festivals do we sponsor?
Priority in the selection process is given to new and growing events. We are looking to help new events get established, or to help established events launch new initiatives. The goal of our funding is to increase participation in your event, which in turn brings more visitors to our region and helps you become more established. The grants are designed to be short-term help to get your event or new initiative rolling, not as a long-term funding crutch.
Successful applicants will be notified by email and provided with information on when and how they will receive the grant. New in 2018 – all successful recipients will be required to attend a free Event Marketing workshop before funding is released.
All grant recipients are required to provide a report to the CCRTA no later than 30 days after the event is completed. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of future applications.
If successful, the applicants must agree to the terms of the CCRTA and recognize the CCRTA as a sponsor in all supporting material for the event. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of future applications.
