There are a number of ways to enjoy the ocean in our region.
Visitors can go kayaking, go out in a lobster boat, go whale watching, enjoy the sandy beaches, eat by the water front, see what they can catch fishing from a local wharf, and even just enjoy the salt air. There is always something for everyone, in every season. The ocean does more than entertain visitors and locals, it is also one of the biggest employers of this area, making it a vital part of many people lives.
Our ocean also holds some records! The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world, and we get the biggest range between tides too. This makes the plants and animals living in the inter-tidal zone some of the most unique anyone has ever seen. We are also the home of the largest whirlpool in the western hemisphere, the Old Sow, which is visible off Deer Island Point.
