DESTINATION WEDDINGS

If you and your partner are seeking a wedding destination that is a fun and relaxed celebration with a strong focus on nature, the Charlotte Coastal Region may be perfect for you! This doesn’t mean weddings are super casual with guests wearing jeans and t-shirts while dining on hot dogs – it is still a wedding after all! It means that couples are designing their wedding to be a celebration that makes it easy for their family and friends (and the couple themselves) to let loose and have a truly spectacular time, whether they are getting married on the beach or in a church, in award-winning gardens, celebrating in a barn or at the elegant Algonquin Resort!

Weddings in the Charlotte Costal Region often eschew some traditions and trends in favour of spending as much time with their guests, and getting the most of the entire experience here. “First Looks” are becoming increasingly popular to make the best use of time on the wedding day, ensuring enough time for photos against the first-class scenery and so that couples can begin celebrating with their guests immediately following the ceremony! Picture less structured dresses that make it easy to move, sit, dance, and dine, and custom suits or less formal ensembles that are chic, fun, and well fitted, rather than relying on rentals. Food is fun, locally-sourced/inspired and often plays a large part in venue selection. Décor is simple and elegant, often inspired by the local charm and landscapes, and personal to the couple.

Weddings in the Charlotte Coastal Region are often planned with an awesome dance party in mind! It is usually led by a live band or an awesome DJ who know how to get people on their feet. And always, always the scenery and gorgeousness of this region’s outdoors is a contributing element of any wedding here, whether the venue is set amongst gorgeous backdrop or the wedding itself is taking place outdoors.

And lastly, weddings in the Charlotte Coastal Region usually extend beyond the wedding day itself. In most cases a large portion of guests are travelling from away to attend a wedding here. Time and time again we hear from couples planning their wedding here that they choose this area over another destination because their guests would be traveling anyway. They want to bring them somewhere that could be a real vacation. So more often than not, a couple ends up planning a “Wedding Festival,” making sure to have activities planned for their guests in the days leading up the wedding day and post wedding day too.

We have amazing venues and competent businesses that will guide you and have all the information you need to plan your destination wedding. Everything you need for catering, flowers, decorations, photography, officiants, churches, and more. We suggest you reach out soon – our venues fill quickly!

Amazing Venues

Two popular venues, The Algonquin Resort and Ticklebelly Hill, were named as 2017 Loveliest Wedding Venues in Canada by Wedding Bells Magazine. Dominion Hill, another option, is a quaint and secluded spot offering an onsite caterer, suites and cabins to stay in or use for getting dressed as well as a gorgeous garden beside the remodeled barn.

There are beaches, fields, bridges and other quaint spots nearby for journalistic shots or to hold your wedding with your toes in the sand. New River Beach has a vast sandy beach or maybe you’re looking for an amazing historic venue. Ministers Island can offer your entire party an amazing outside experience that would start with everyone driving across the ocean floor to get there. Our venues are not cookie cutter but instead offer unique, relaxed and unforgettable experiences.

WEDDING STORIES

You may have heard about two Jeopardy contestants who met on the show and chose a Canadian wedding in St. Andrews By-the-sea. The historic Algonquin Resort was chosen for their venue and the super talented Shannon May Photography captured the nuptials for them to remember forever.
