Here in the Charlotte Coastal Region, we love a good holiday. Canada Day is the annual celebration of the country’s independence from Britain, which happened on July 1, 1867. It’s one of the best days of the summer to get out and celebrate in our local communities!

Canada Day at New River Beach

New River Beach is a great place for a picnic on Canada Day. Enjoy the beach and the Provincial Park, as well as the beautiful walking trails. Check out this great video on the area, including Lepreau Falls and the Nature Spa at Chance Harbour.

Canada Day in Black’s Harbour

The village of Black’s Harbour will be celebrating Canada Day in Main Street Park with a series of activities starting at 12:30 PM. Satisfy your appetite with a free community BBQ complete with birthday cake, while listening to live music. There will be children’s activities – fair warning though, you may want to wear a swimsuit and carry at towel! The community garden will also hold its grand opening on this day! Canada Day in St. George

Wake up with a delicious community breakfast in St. George on Canada Day, followed by a flag raising and singing of the national anthem.

Canada Day on Grand Manan

Spend your Canada Day weekend on beautiful Grand Manan Island, a short ferry ride from Black’s Harbour. They’re so excited about Canada Day, they’re starting the party early by hosting their events on June 30! Rain or shine, Grand Mananers are ready to celebrate with a slate of activities which you can see on their Facebook event.

Canada Day on Deer Island

Join the residents of Deer Island at the Deer Island Point Campground for Canada Day celebrations on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay. There will be a market, children’s parade, BBQ, games, live music, and of course fireworks!

Canada Day on Campobello

It’s a weekend’s worth of celebrations on Campobello, with Canada Day and Independence Day (US) falling so close together. They’re so excited, they’re starting the party early, on Friday June 29 with a tie-dye fun and an ice cream social! On the 3oth, there will be a parade,farmer’s market, pet show, and treasure hunt, live music, and Sunday the 1st is ANOTHER parade, picnic, rock painting, and a kid’s movie! All events will take place at the Herring Cove Provincial Park.

Canada Day in St. Andrews

St. Andrews by the sea has developed a reputation as a Canada Day destination, attracting visitors from across the province! The celebrations begin at sunrise with Passamaquoddy chief Hugh Akagi’s sunrise ceremony, and continue through to the fireworks show on the waterfront in the evening, with many activities in between!  You can download the schedule for a full list of events and times – it’s a jam-packed day!

Canada Day in St. Stephen

On July 1st in St. Stephen, you can start your celebrations early – at 8:30 AM in Chocolate Park on Milltown Boulevard. Enjoy live music, delicious cake, face painting, and bouncy castles!

Canada Day in McAdam

The Village of McAdam is celebrating Railway Days, along with birthday this year. The festivities begin Friday evening and continue throughout the weekend. They include a youth dance, community meals, live music shows, heritage presentations, train rides, a model train demonstration, a parade, and fireworks! Sunday sees the return of the famous Railway Pie at the McAdam Railway Station. We can’t list everything here, so be sure to check the full schedule on their Facebook page!
