The history of Blacks Harbour (or “Blacks” as it is referred to by locals) is that of a small fishing community located on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. A community whose existence over the last hundred years has been based on the bounty of the ocean, in particular, the small herring fish known as sardine. This is a community where families have flourished and rooted for more than a century and will probably be here for centuries more.
